A Mountain to Climb | Ben Hirst
On the 12th of July Ben Hirst is climbing twice the height of Mount Everest, by trekking up and down the slopes of Mount Wellington in Hobart. It's the latest in a long line of ultra endurance challenges that he's been pumping out over the past 8 years to raise awareness and funds for mental health. His passion comes from living through his own struggles, which've included a drinking problem, lack of purpose and suicidality. At his lowest, Ben made the split second decision to end his life; when he happened to see a bumper sticker that stopped him. A decade on, he's a fulfilled father of two, working in suicide prevention for the Tassie charity, Speak Up! Stay ChatTY.
